This is a poem I have slowly added to whenever I’ve come across it since 2017. This poem delves into the intimate yet strained moments between two lovers, set against the backdrop of night. As they lie close together, the physical proximity contrasts sharply with the emotional distance that separates them. The tension and unspoken words create a fragile and heavy silence, reflecting their inner turmoil. The imagery of the night, with its creeping shadows and distant stars, mirrors the cold and distant feelings between them. Despite their closeness, they feel like they are oceans apart, adrift in an endless night, highlighting the poignant struggle between connection and isolation.
