The Flower That Bloomed in the Night - Marcus Perez
There’s a flower that bloomed in the night…
You fell as a seed into the ground of my darkened and watered heart,
You began to form and grow in place,
From a seed to a stem to pedals formed in a bud
I place you in a vase on my nightstand
I fall asleep.
I can hear you, the flower that began to bloom
No spotlight needed
You were perfect all alone,
No need for an audience to cheer you on
Quietly blooming into what you’re meant to be all along.
They say the stem grows towards the light
But you, you grew towards the darkness of my heart,
I wake to the morning day,
To find a beautiful flower that bloomed its way
Now I keep you in that same watered heart
Only to keep watching you bloom, but this time
In day.

For the Love of Life - Michele Martin
You held the ship that carried tons of burden
Sorrow that led a path of no tomorrow.
You hold yourself between these walls caused by the indictment
That made you collapse and fall.
You wondered why you put yourself there wishing if only you cared.
You were blind to see.
The only thoughts you had were girls, sex, and becoming a druggy.
I know in your heart you prayed,
But these black clouds make you dark and grey, you wonder
Will they ever disappear and fade away?
Time is all you have now.
Minute after minute, hour after hour,
No matter how much life can change in a split second.
At times like this I hope my words of fate
Come to you just to be shared
Because I’m someone who cares.
Even in the most fear of all that breaks you down with tears that fall;
Is your child not remembering you.
Oh, he will not forget you only if you pray
And believe that God is inside you.
Your child is forever to keep, I say he’s the reason why
You’re not six feet deep.
You are where you are because God wanted you there.
He doesn't pick and choose just to be fair.
He gives you a second chance at life to make things right.
It may have been a decade, but your son is worth the fight.
My prayers will be with you.
So, grab Gods hand and hold on tight,
One day you and your son will reunite.
