I wrote this poem out on October 18th, 2019, so it only felt right that I put this poem out with my other one; “Held By the Tides of You” as they were both written around the same time. In this poem, we’re diving into the theme of self-reliance and the struggle to save a loved one while grappling with one’s own challenges… I really wanted to capture the tension between self-preservation and the desire to rescue someone… illustrating the depths of love.
