Would You Do the Same? (2025)
If I died for you, would you do the same for me?
Or would you join the others in carrying my body
To be buried beneath the weeping willow tree?
It’s the least you can do
Since you’ve helped contribute to the death of me.
If I gave you my heart, could you keep it alive?
Or would you let it slowly fade out,
Like the lights do of the fireflies
When the moon falls to her knees with grace
Over the beauty of the morning sky?
Would you hold onto the sound of our laughter,
Or the emptiness of my space?
Would you recall the memory
Of how much you truly meant to me,
Or would you let them drift away
Like cherry blossom petals in the breeze of spring?
I think we could have truly been happy
If only you’d given a raindrop
Of the same reciprocity.
